According to a new economic impact analysis by the Economic Development Commission (EDC) of Florida’s Space Coast, the Bowen Aquarium will bring in over $128 million in annual area sales, support more than 1,000 jobs, and generate $43 million in local labor income. This makes the project a significant win for both the local economy and residents alike.
Location: The aquarium will be located on a 14-acre site at Port Canaveral, spotlighting the incredible ecosystems of the Indian River Lagoon and surrounding habitats.
More Than an Aquarium
The Bowen Aquarium is a project by the East Coast Zoological Foundation (ECZF), the nonprofit team behind the much-loved Brevard Zoo. ECZF CEO Keith Winsten emphasized that the project reflects decades of success in combining education, conservation, and community engagement.
With the Bowen Aquarium, they’re building a second campus that continues their mission to inspire action and foster a deeper connection to Florida’s wildlife and waterways.
